Phillip Killebrew

Phillip Killebrew holds a deep passion for mentoring young people. Growing up in a poverty and crime-ridden area of Portsmouth, Virginia, he has found that is always rewarding to help people from disadvantage communities like his own. His mentor footprint extends through assisting college students with Mentor Collective, engaging in speaking seminars with Upward Bound Federal TRiO Program, and mentoring minority students in STEM. Serving an organization like Connections Mentor that is dedicated to empowering and mentoring young people brings personal fulfilment to Phillip. 

Phillip is a Requirements Officer at the Department of the Navy, where he is responsible for assisting the Office of the Deputy, Chief of Naval Operations throughout the Planning, Programming, Budgeting and Execution process.

 

Phillip holds a Master of Science in Engineering and Operations Management from University of New Haven and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering/Mechanical Technology/Technician from Virginia State University. He was named to the Virginian-Pilot’s 2024 40 Under 40 list.
